Sewing Classes and Craft Projects
Teaching new skills to help women gain self-confidence.

The women in this program arrive knowing nothing about sewing and advance to learn about pattern design, dressmaking, and more complex crafts. The healing effect of this process provides the perfect environment for discussions about healthy relationships, parenting skills and help regain self-esteem.

Physical and Mental Health Basics
Understanding our own bodies, needs, strengths, and limitations.

We offer one-on-one counseling on parenting, verbal and physical abuse, and provide classes in communication skills, how to say no, recognizing human trafficking, birth control, and COVID-19.

Acculturation

We ease the challenge of adapting to a new country and culture by providing an interface between recent immigrants and the local US social and education systems.

Empowerment and Self Esteem

Healing Stitches offers SELF-HELP workshops in Mindfulness, Relaxation, Reiki, and Empowerment and Art Therapy to aid with emotional and psychological well-being.

Natural Disaster Preparedness

We offer workshops to introduce our community to first responders and provide class in natural disaster preparedness.

Legal Assistance and
Citizenship Preparation Program

We partner with the Mercy Law school in Detroit for legal immigration guidance including legal application for asylum and general education. Healing Stitches provides “Know your Rights” immigration workshops, and one on one immigration assistance.
